Cruisers

We have a small but active, locally based Sailing Cruiser section with about 9 sailing cruisers based from nearby Clevedon Pill, a small sheltered drying inlet on the salt marsh just beyond Wains Hill.

Boats vary from 17' motor cruiser and 18' Trailer Sailors to 30' Sailing Cruisers, mostly bilge keeled which are predominantly suitable for the drying harbours of the Bristol Channel.

Weekend sailing activities take place in such places as Barry, Swansea in South Wales, Minehead, and Porlock on the Somerset coast. Long weekends and holiday cruises take in such destinations as Ilfracombe, Lundy Island, Padstow and the Scillies, or on the Welsh side Tenby, Saundersfoot, Milford Haven, or even across to Waterford in Eire. We have also had yachts go up to Largs in Scotland, and have also taken our boats down around the corner to Falmouth and Plymouth.

We are fortunate in the Bristol Channel that a strong camaraderie exists amongst cruiser folk, and you are made welcome wherever you cruise.

We also have members with sailing cruisers based on the South coast at Plymouth, Salcombe and Starcross who join us for a drink and a chat on Club nights. So even if you live locally but sail on the blue waters elsewhere come and join us. The club has a quite active social calendar, and in the Winter months we hope to arrange some interesting sailing talks/film evenings.
