RYA Costal Skipper Shore Based Course 2007

SIX SATURDAYS IN OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER 2007

Previous Requirement – qualification to RYA Day Skipper standard

This course opens the door for the skipper wishing to make longer coastal passages. It is an essential element when working towards the RYA Practical Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster examinations.

The course includes;

  • Rules of the road
  • Navigation
  • Navigation lights
  • Tides
  • Tidal streams
  • Positional fixes
  • Passage plans

There are three examination papers included in the course;

  • International rules for the prevention of collision at sea
  • Advanced navigation – charts and electronics
  • Meteorology

Royal Yachting Association Instructor - Stuart Scarborough.

All RYA course material and practice charts will be provided within the course fee. Students will be expected to provide pencils, ERASER, dividers and plotter. There will be approximately eight students in the class.

The course will be held at Clevedon Sailing Club and the fee includes a full year’s membership of the Sailing Club. Students will be entitled to use the social and sailing facilities within the Club Rules.
